I judge the fact that I'm doing well or not, by whether I'm ahead of JN, so I'm well happy with my placing. Haven't seen PCS_Exponent on here for a good long time, and I'm only five points behind him, looks like I'll have to sneak ahead him in the final few days.

While I do agree that if Semenya wants the results kept secret then they should be. But I don't believe it's in her interest. So many leaked details have come out, that people are going to draw there own conclusions - and those conclusions seem to be against her. Whether the leaked details are true or not is decide the point. If Semenya publishes the details. those who believe in those leaked details, will have to eat their words. At he moment the press and the sceptical public will hound her where ever she runs.

That is of course if the IAAF have made the correct decision, and not bowed to South African threats.

As far as I know, Paula has to run a marathon before the World Champs in 2011 in order to qualify for them. Only defending champions of the event get a place automatically.

And yes, Paula has to run a marathon from 1 Jan 2011 in order to qualify for 2012. I'm assuming pretty much any marathon is eligible for her to qualify, but she will only go for the major ones anyway so she won't need to worry about that

yes HS, football does tend to dominate and you'd think they would at least give us some success in return I think it will show when we get to Barcelona for the Euro Champs.

Still before then Mr Murray has made the quarters at Wimbledon. He's not had a great year but seems to be in some sort of form suddenly. Has t obeat Mr Tsonga who can be brilliant but is very inconsistent so hopefully will reach the semis. However he will then have to beat Nadal and Federer to win so going to be tough

JN - yes we are very lucky here even if some don't always appreciate it.

Despite the fact that there is blanket world cup fotball coverage plus heavy coverage of Wimbledon and the European F1 Grand Prix yesterday we still had coverage of our National Athletics championships on Saturday and Sunday on the BBC.

As I say very lucky and not advert breaks either. I must admit showing one sport in the middle of another sport's show sounds a bit weird.

Yes Emily seems to be coming back. The fact is that the transition from junior to senior is never easy.

Sometimes it is just the physical changes of growing up mean you plateau and have a few fallow years. That isn't a problem if you can handle it mentally and come and and Emily seems to be doing that.

I agree HS that sometimes the dedication required can prove too mcuh but also pressure to compete can be high. Often it is parents that push the kids too hard. We have just lost won who was quite promising but his dad is also an athlete at the club and has given him a really hard time over the years and just switched him off i think.

However we have done quite well in keeping our athletes through university so overall we are quite happy.
